Many people dream of transforming their lives but don’t even try. They think they will never have the time and energy it takes to make significant changes and improve their lives.

They also believe only others are capable of turning their lives around. And because they don’t know where to start, they don’t do it at all.

If that’s what you think, I am happy you stumble upon this post because it will surely change your mind. This article will discuss 10 simple habits to change your life.

Turning your life around is easy if you stay focused. The good news is that most of the habits below will take less than 5 minutes. Yet, following them daily will transform your life in a few weeks only.

Increase your mindfulness

According to mindful.org, mindfulness can be described as:

“the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us.”

Mindfulness is about living in the moment and not letting your thoughts overwhelm you. But it is also about taking time to analyze situations as you go through them and be more self-aware.

Increasing your mindfulness will impact your life in many positive ways. Taking a few minutes to reflect can help you better control your emotions and improve your reasoning capacity.

Practicing mindfulness will change the way you react to adverse situations and feelings. But it will also help you enjoy the little things in life we usually take for granted.

A simple way to practice mindfulness is through meditation. Meditation has many positive impacts, such as relieving stress and improving focus, sleep, and productivity.

There are many different ways to meditate. You can try a guided meditation or simply sit in silence and focus on your breath to find a method that works best for you. Breathing exercises are a great place to start.

Have a plan for each day

The easiest way to change your life is to start every day with a clear plan.

Knowing your top 3 priorities of the day before getting out of bed is key to ensuring you stay driven and focused during the day.

Take a few minutes every evening to set goals for the next day. These goals need to be aligned with your long-term vision of life.

Once you start doing so, you no longer live life day by day but are planning for success. Working on your goals daily will help you design a life you will love.

Without a plan, it’s easy to get sidetracked and waste time on things that don’t matter. Take some time to figure out what activities matter to achieve your goals and focus your energy on them.

Practicing gratitude daily will help you stay grounded and self-aware, but this practice will also have many other positive impacts on your daily life.

Practicing gratitude is a simple technique to improve mental and physical health. Many studies show that people expressing gratitude regularly are less prone to depression and stress.

Being grateful improves our mental health, directly impacting our ability to care for ourselves and achieve goals.

This simple exercise will also help you boost your self-confidence as you become more optimistic about life.

To add this habit to your daily routine, start writing in your journal 3 things you are grateful for every day. You can add this healthy habit to your morning or night routine.

Despite taking only a few minutes, expressing gratitude will greatly impact your life satisfaction.

Reflect on yourself

Self-reflection is an important habit to develop if you want to change your life.

It lets you see how far you’ve come and what areas of your life you need to work on.

If you are trying to improve your life, there are probably many things you want to change.

To begin this transition, you have to first understand what changes you need to implement. To do so, you should be able to answer the questions below:

  • What would make you happier?
  • What are your short and long-term life goals?
  • Why didn’t you achieve them already?
  • What changes can you make in your daily life to support these goals?
  • What would be your milestones?

Once you have figured out your goals and action steps, write them down.

Being organized is probably the most underrated habit on this list.

Most people think they do not have time to be more organized, keep their space clean and tidy, and meticulously organize their days.

They do not realize that having an organized life is what helps you make enough time for everything else.

I used to be a hot mess until I got into College.

Being super organized and mastering time management helped me balance College, my full-time job as a Finance Specialist, a side hustle, and my social life.

This is just how powerful good organization skills can be.

The best way to get organized is to time block your time.

Taking time to implement an organizational system will help you redeem your time afterward, so it is well worth it.

Having a clear schedule is also the best way to fight procrastination, so if you feel like you never have time to get things done, getting more organized is the place to start.

Be more time-conscious

Time is a precious commodity, so it’s essential to use it wisely.

We often think that we don’t have enough time to do things. I used to think that too.

If you think that you do not have enough time to work out, learn a new language, or have a side hustle, download an app to track your screen time.

You will be shocked when you discover how much time you spend scrolling on your phone or playing your favorite game.

Keep in mind that you also probably spend time watching TV, so your total screen time is perhaps even much higher than estimated by the app.

According to a study published in 2015, Americans spent on average 274 minutes watching TV daily. That’s more than 4 hours per day, and this does not include time spent on a smartphone or playing video games.

According to another study, the average person spends over 2 hours per day mindlessly scrolling on his phone. Most of these 2 hours are spent on social media. Yes, social media is fun and free, but it is actually stealing your time and focus, which are priceless!

Understanding how you spend your time is a critical step to optimizing your schedules.

Starting to time block is a great way to improve your time management skills. This simple productivity technique will help you control your time and ensure you do not waste it.

Educate yourself

If you are serious about improving your life, you need to consider working on your education.

Education is what forms us. It helps us better understand our world, make better decisions and improve our chances of success.

Educating yourself will help you develop new skills that will offer you exciting opportunities.

Transforming your life will come with many learning curves. You might want to start your own business, accomplish something crazy, become a healthier person or get a new job.

All these goals require you to develop new skills and increase your knowledge.

The good news is that there is no need to return to College to work on your education.

Most of your education will actually happen after high school/College.

Online platforms such as EdX and books are a great way to educate yourself.

  8. Thinking, fast and slow by Daniel Kahneman
  9. The Millionaire Fastlane by MJ Demarco
  10. The automatic millionaire by David Bach

These books are a mix of finance books (personal finance is important no matter your life goals) and personal growth books that helped me design my dream life.

Make your health your priority

Regardless of your life goals, your health needs to be your priority.

Without good physical and mental health, you will not be able to reach your full potential to achieve your goals.

Make sure you see your doctor once a year for a check-up, eat healthy foods, exercise regularly, and get enough sleep.

Taking care of your health might feel overwhelming if you have to implement many lifestyle changes.

That’s where apps come in handy! Many free apps can help you implement healthy habits to get healthy.

Here are a few of my favorites (which I use daily btw!) :

1) Lifesum: Lifesum is a great app to help you analyze your eating apps. It has many functionalities to help you track your food and water intake and the calories burnt, and it even gives you a “LifeScore” depending on your daily habits!

2) FitOn: FitOn is the #1 app for working out at home. It offers a huge catalog of exercises, from yoga and dancing to HIIT workouts. Each workout is performed by a fitness coach and recorded. The videos definitely make working out more fun!

3) EufyLife – Health made easy: To be able to use this app, you need to have a EufyLife scale. This smart scale truly changed my life. It gives a lot of information on your health, such as your weight, BMI, and much more. The app gives you a total of 14 health indicators based on your weight.

These apps will help you stay healthy no matter how busy your schedule is.

Set goals and stay motivated to achieve them

If you want to change your life, setting goals is important.

Think about what you want to achieve in 5 years, 1 year, and 3 months. Write your goals down and have a written plan.

Once you have set goals, you will have to ensure you stay motivated to achieve them.

Podcasts are a great help when it comes to staying motivated and inspired.

Let your fears guide you

Fear is a natural feeling.

When facing a potentially dangerous stimulus, our brain segregates hormones that make us enter into a “fight or flight” state.

As a result, several chemical reactions are triggered in our bodies which help us escape situations that could harm us.

The issue is that this mechanism never changed in 10,000 years despite our stimulus being very different nowadays.

As you can imagine, being eaten alive by a tiger is no longer something we have to worry about daily.

Most of the fears we experience are not so legitimate anymore. We often fear change and challenges.

This is why letting fears guide you can be an incredibly powerful way to improve your life.

We often fear things that are important to us and can truly transform us because they imply stepping out of our comfort zones.

Letting fear guide you in these situations is the best way to break your limiting beliefs and profoundly transform your life.

The secret to transforming your life is to start small and keep adding new habits along the way.
